Housebreaking: Moorland Crescent, Tokai

At 09h49 this morning the security gate and the front door of a residence in Moorland Crescent, Tokai was forced open by means of a crowbar and a flat screen TV stolen.

The resident reported noticing a newer model silver Mercedes with four black occupants parking across from the residence when she left for work and a neighbour subsequently reported noticing the same vehicle prior to the break-in, but unfortunately no registration number was taken down.

All clients are requested to be on the lookout for unknown vehicles with occupants parked in the close vicinity of your premises when leaving your premises for any period of time and report it to our control room.

Please also note that criminals are increasingly making use of newer model vehicles as means of transport for their nefarious activities as older model, dilapidated vehicles are more likely to be noticed by members of the public.

Lakeside Neighbourhood Watch

In our daily communications with clients it has become apparent that there is growing demand amongst the residents of Lakeside for the establishment of a neighbourhood watch program in the area.

Please note that members of the neighbourhood watch are not required to carry out patrols in the area if they do not wish to do so – everyone has a contribution to make towards the safety and security of their area, such as reporting things that you may find suspicious, being vigilant and neighbourly – no matter how seemingly small or insignificant it may appear, everyone can assist in keeping the community safe.

SAPS actively encourages and supports neighbourhood watches and WCSS will assist the neighbourhood watch with, amongst others, the provision of a radio as well as the assistance of our control room for patrol purposes.

We encourage all residents who are interested in joining the neighbourhood watch to contact us via email (info@wcss.co.za).

Hijacking of vehicle, Lakeside

At approximately 05h00 in the morning a resident of the Lakeland Complex on the Main Road in Lakeside arrived at the entrance to the complex and while waiting to enter the complex she was accosted at gunpoint and forced out of her vehicle, a blue Citroen with registration number CA699907.

The resident reported that the hijacker was one of four occupants of a green Citi Golf, but no registration number for the suspects’ vehicle is available.

Anyone who may have witnessed the hijacking and who may be able to provide any additional information on the suspects or their vehicle is requested to contact either Warrant Officer Andries of Muizenberg SAPS on 082 522 1213 or 021 787 9000 or our offices.

We are grateful to be able to report that the resident was not physically injured during the hijacking, but we must request that all clients make use of our “meet and greet” service – if you are arriving home late at night or early in the morning please advise us to enable our armed response officers to meet you at your premises and ensure that you are escorted onto the premises safely.

Arrest for possession of housebreaking implements: Devon Road, Lakeside

ARREST FOR POSSESSION OF HOUSEBREAKING IMPLEMENTS: DEVON ROAD, LAKESIDE

On Saturday evening, 11 January 2014 at 21h35 our armed response officers detained a suspect in Devon Road who was found to be in possession of a large knife, a torch and screwdrivers. The suspect was subsequently arrested by SAPS for possession of housebreaking implements.

Well done to Ryan and Riedewaan for their vigilance! Please remember that you are always welcome to advise our control room of any suspicious persons or activity in the area to enable us to check and ensure that they are removed from the area before they have the opportunity to get up to any mischief!

Arrest for drug possession: Lakeside/Zandvlei

While on patrol this morning our armed response officers, Ryan and Riedewaan, observed an individual acting in a suspicious manner at the Zandvlei public toilets.

The response officers alerted SAPS accordingly and detained the suspect who, after a search of his person, was found have a quantity of tik in his possession.

The suspect, a resident of Steenberg who works in the Lakeside area, was subsequently handed over to W/O Philander of the Western Cape Mounted Unit for arrest.

Well done to both Ryan and Riedewaan for their vigilance and quick action!!
